The Alameda Islanders were well represented in the 11-12 Girls Division at the 2011 Pacific Swimming Far Western Long Course Championships, held in Concord, California July 27-31. Catherine Boles placed 1st in two events - 50m Backstroke and 100m Backstroke, and Maddy Delore placed 1st in 50m Freestyle.
Far Westerns is a fiercely competitive meet comprised of the best age group swimmers from the western half of North America. Just to qualify is extraordinary. To place or win is absolutely stupendous.

Maddy competed in 3 events and won the 50m freestyle in the video below. She also got 4th in 50m breast and 9th in 50m butterfly.
Daniel Truong, 18, swam in his final Far Western meet as an Islander. He qualified in 3 events and place 4th in the 100 meter breast. Morgan recently graduated from Bishop O-Dowd High School and will be attending the University of California, Merced where he will study Mechanical Engineering. Daniel qualified in 3 events. Galen Lam qualified to swim 200 Breaststroke and 200 Butterfly in the 15-16 Mens Division, and Helene Takamura qualified to swim 100 Backstroke in the 15-16 Womens Division.
